Certain large LCD displays get very warm. I know the Dell 19" widescreen LCD TV gets really toasty, like you described with yours. Probably nothing to worry about, unless it gets hot to the touch. As a general guide, warm is ok, hot is bad.

My smaller 17 inch screen gets warm only on the top part, and no where else.  I'm thinking of a 2405 purchase soon, so I hope its not a design flaw

I'll check when I get home, but I only felt the heat from the top part in the front.  Other than that, it's the best monitor i've ever owned.

i have 2x 2405FPs with my G5 and between the 3 of them, put out quite a bit of heat. in fact, i have a fan directed at my monitors. i sit about 18-22" away from them. at least they'll keep me warm in winter. too bad i can't convert that heat into something useful :(

Your guess of 60 watts was verfy good. The spec of the monitor tells this as normal consumtion. Which is not too bad as most of the LCD TVs of this size use 100 watts.

The heat seems to emanate mostly from the top.  Then it decreases as you move your hand down the front.  I'll have to setup a fan if it gets too toasty.

Thanks for all your help!
