2440L monitor cannot select input using a KVM switch (Rextron)?

I have a 4 port HDMI  KVM switch (Rextron) connected to a Dell 2440L.  If I switch on a computer that is not the currently selected one on the KVM switch, and they try and switch to it,  the Dell Monitor does not show any input and show this error message "The current input timing is not supported by the Monitor Display". When I try the same procedure with a Samsung Monitor connected via HDMI, it has no problem detecting the input from the HDMI cable. I tried switching HDMI cables and it behaves exactly the same.
