3008WFP, cycling basic colors on power up
Hello,
I have an old 3008WFP monitor that is out of warranty and started having an issue with ghosting colors. Another forum suggested examining the caps on the PCBs and see if any were bad and replace them. After doing that and reassembling the monitor, the monitor will only cycle basic colors on power up. I have researched this and it appears to be in "Burn In" mode. Is there a hard reset for this monitor or any way to get out of this mode?
Thanks,
Dwight

XPS_Man,
The page is incorrect. That file is not a firmware. If you download and extract (dell_3008wfp_a00-00_r172256.exe), we see that it only contains the driver INF/ICC. Plus, it is only 161.41 KB, way to small for a firmware update.
Spike333,
I do not see any records that we released a public firmware for the 3008WFP. This is not supported by Dell Support. But since it is out of warranty, I will provide the steps for you to try to enter the FSM (Factory Service Menu) and disable BurnIn mode.
6 horizontal buttons (Input Source, PBP, Menu, Minus, Plus, Power)
* Turn the monitor off
* Hold the menu button and plus button at the same time, then press the power button. Release all buttons
* Press the minus button to enter the FSM
* Scroll down to BurnIn mode using the minus button
* Press the Menu button to activate that setting
* Press the minus button to set it to Off (it should be blue when selected)
* Press the plus button to highlight Exit Menu
* Press the Menu button

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the reply. I tried your sequence and it doesn't enter FSM. It starts the color sequence again. The power light does come on so I am assuming that the cable from the front buttons to the interior PCB is secure. Does Dell have any certified repair centers you recommend. I know you don't repair monitors at Dell.
Thanks,
Dwight

I do not know of any certified repair centers. But even if found, they would not repair a monitor. You would have to find a local TV repair option. Finding replacement components via eBay would be difficult.
