AC511 Soundbar, Consoles, issue, setup

Hello, I recently purchased a new monitor for use with my XSX/PS5 consoles and since this monitor does not come with speakers I decided to purchase a soundbar to use with it for the times I do not want to wear a headset. I went with the Dell AC511 USB Soundbar. The issue I am having is the volume control knob does not function with the monitor I have it hooked up to. I'm fairly certain it's just because of the way I am using it doesn't exactly match the intended use of the Soundbar but I wanted to get clarification just in case and make sure I wasn't missing anything.

So my gaming monitor is hooked up to both consoles via respective HDMI cables, and into a surge protector from the wall outlet for power. My soundbar is hooked into the gaming monitor via a 3.5mm to 3.5mm audio jack cable. The USB power cord is hooked into an USB phone charger/socket and also into the surge protector coming from the wall.

I hooked the USB power from the Soundbar into my monitor but found it was not getting power, I guess the power cord from the monitor is not enough to power both the monitor, and the soundbar off the one connection to the surge protector.

Now the soundbar volume control works if I have the Soundbar hooked into my PC Monitor(s) (which are not connected to my gaming monitor at all, they're separate.) In this setup, the soundbar is still receiving an audio signal from my gaming monitor via the 3.5mm audio cable. However I am trying to avoid having my gaming monitor/soundbar hooked up to my PC at all. I'm trying to figure out what I can do to get the volume control to work on my gaming monitor with the soundbar as I have it set up now (with the soundbar plugged into the surge protector for power via a phone charger) because it does not receive power if I plug it into the USB ports on my gaming monitor.

This is a link to the gaming monitor I have so you can see the specs on it.

This is the soundbar I have purchased.

Update=Resolved-I have found a workaround for raising/lowering/muting the sound via some buttons on the gaming monitor. It isn't as convenient as turning the volume knob but it gets the job done all the same. I was afraid this was the case but it's my fault for not doing thorough research on the subject. However I am happy with my purchase and am willing to employ the workaround I discovered when needed.

We determined that the volume knob on the soundbar required an OS from a PC to function properly. My workaround was using the manual raise/lower volume buttons on my gaming monitor. I never did plug it in to my PC to use the volume knob.

I am having the same issue with my Dell gaming monitor (s2721dgf) and Dell sound bar (ac511m). My connection right now is:

xbox x - hdmi - monitor

monitor - usb - soundbar (power seems to be good)

soundbar - 3.5mm audio - monitor

i get volume but it’s just so loud and I can’t seem to reduce or alter the volume control. I tried the volume setting on the monitor but still no luck. How did you resolve your issue? Any help would be appreciated.

He did not do volume control this on the console. He did it in the Monitor Menu OSD which had volume control.
