Bose Companion 2 Multimedia Speakers

Hi:

I have Bose Companion 2 Multimedia Speakers that came with my Dell Desktop Computer which I purchased in 2009. My speakers were working perfectly until this past Sunday when  suddenly the volume on the speakers went from 100% to 40%.  I checked all the connections, as well as checked the volume on the Realtek Audio Manager and everything is in order.  I even tested the volume on both the speakers and volume is working but not at a 100% capacity level.

Is this sudden reduction in volume due to old age on the speakers, since I've had them since 2009?  Does keeping your cellphone near the speakers damage them?  I've since ordered another pair of identical speakers.

Thanks,

NYCityGirl

Hi NYCityGirl,

Cell phones use electromagnetic fields to transmit and receive calls which interact with normal speakers however keeping the cellphone near the speakers won't damage the speaker. In this case the speaker failure could just be due to usage as you have guessed.
