Cannot get high resolution on U3011
I just got a new U3011 and connected it up, replacing a U2407. The maximum resolution that is shown is 1600x1200 and the recommended is1280x1024.
My 2407 comes up in Windows 7 x64 at its recommended resolution of 1920x1200. It almost seems like the monitor is sending the wrong info to my computer.
Any ideas before I get a replacement unit from Dell support.
I removed the U3011 and put my old 24" back and it automatically returned to 1920x1200 as before.
I am using the DVI cable supplied by Dell and my video card is capable of the 2560x1600 that the 3011 can do.

You must be using the Dual-link DVI cable that shipped with the U3011, not the older DVI cable that came with the 2407.

I was using the new dual link cable. I also tried on another computer and the same thing, 1600x1200. I also tried using a VGA connection.
I finally got it working but am not sure how. I connected it as a secondary monitor duplicating the desktop of my 2407 and it came up as 1920x1200. I then set it as an extended desktop and now could go to 2560x1600 on my new u3011. I then set it as the primary monitor and now have it running alone at its recommended resolution of 2560x1600. This is a long way from 1280x800 which was the original recommended resolution given by Windows.
