Cannot reset ST2320L to maximum 1920x1080 resolution
I have XPS 1340, Nvidia GeForce 9400M G video card, running Windows 7 64bit. I recently purchased the Dell ST2320L Monitor.
I followed the setup manual, attached to laptop, and my laptop automatically adjusted the monitor to 1920x1080 resolution without problem. After work, I shut my laptop down. The next day, turned it on with the monitor plugged in, and have not been able to get that resolution since.
I have attempted to install the driver provided by Dell, but have met a couple of problems there. Running c:\dell\drivers\R299044 only opens the folder, it does not initiate setup (there is no setup.exe file in the folder). I tried installing the driver manually, but Windows 7 says "Windows has determined your driver is up to date." and does not allow me to install.
Any help or suggestions on attaining 1920x1080 resolution would be greatly appreciated.

Assume Device Manager only show PnP Monitor and highest resolution available is 1600 x 1200
Go to Computer / System Properties / Device Manager / Monitors / Generic PnP Monitor VGA
Double-click "Generic PnP Monitor"
Select "Driver" Tab
Click "Update Drver" button
Select "Browse for Software on My Computer"
Select "Let me pick ..."
Uncheck box "Show Compatible Hardware"
Select "Have Disk" button
Browe to c: drive folder that has the monitor .inf file
Install - select your model analog (VGA cable)
Launch your Graphics card OEM application - specify max resolution and refresh rate1920 x 1080 60 Mhz
On your Desktop - right mouse click, select "Sreen Resolution" select to desired resolution
