D6000 causing problems w/ multi screen HP Spectre x360??

Good morning.  I’ve been using an HP Spectre x360 (late 2019 model, running Win10 Home 64-bit ver 1909 fully updated) for some months now with a Dell D6000 Universal Dock and am experiencing a number of irritating performance problems which I think may be attributable to the D6000.

I have updated the BIOS of the HP Spectre as well as the firmware of the D6000.  I’ve got current drivers on my devices. I’m using the most recent version of DisplayLink Manager, 9.3.3147.0.

98% of the use of the system is for garden variety web surfing (using Chrome), YouTube, Netflix, etc streaming, music via Spotify, Word, Excel, and photo editing.

Microprocessor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-1065G7 CPU @ 1.30GHz

System memory 16 GB,  2 x 8GB Micron 4267MHz

Graphic device 3 DisplayLink USB Device at 2560 x 1440 and 60 Hz Aero Enabled

Device 1 Intel® Smart Sound Technology (Intel® SST) Enabled Driver IntcDMic.sys 10.24.0.2810

Device 2 Intel(R) Display Audio Enabled IntcDAud.sys 11.1.0.7

Device 3 DisplayLink USB Audio Adapter Enabled usbaudio2.sys 9.3.3135.0

Device 4 Intel® Smart Sound Technology (Intel® SST) Enabled IntcDMic.sys 10.24.0.2810

Device 5 Realtek High Definition Audio Enabled RTKVHD64.sys 6.0.8773.1

The network is cat6 wired to a Comcast modem

Problem 1: When starting up from a cold boot or when restarting, the DisplayLink screens don’t always detect the display properly and I end up with a smaller resolution.  Typically another restart (or two) fixes this problem.

Problem 2: When streaming audio (Spotify, YouTube) and played through the D6000 link to speakers, I get frequent audio “stuttering” which really spoils the audio experience.

Problem 3: I turn off power savings so that the screen and processor remain on until I turn them off.  The wired internet connection is set to remain connected while the machine is on. However, after a period of inactivity, I’ll return to the machine to find the two external DisplayLink displays frozen, with only the laptop’s attached screen still functioning and an error message (From Chrome?) indicating that I've lost the internet connection.  The only cure for these frozen screens is a reboot.

So, those are my issues.  Do I need to replace the D6000?  I’m really tired of all these reboots I’m compelled to do.

PS. The Spectre c360 works great without the D6000 attached.

@mike.rothman  since you've already updated your BIOS, D6000 firmware, and DisplayLink software, it's possible that you're simply running into some issues that can be inherent to how DisplayLink and therefore DisplayLink-based docks work, which is very different from traditional docks that tap into native GPU outputs.  I wrote about this in detail in the post marked as the answer in this thread.
