DDM, cannot switch back to previous input

Hello All,

I have three fully updated Dell monitors:
P2417H (HDMI)
U2414H (DisplayPort)
P2417H (HDMI)

Windows assigns the windows like this
P2417H (HDMI) Assigned as monitor 3
U2414H (DisplayPort) Assigned as monitor 2
P2417H (HDMI) Assigned as monitor 1

DDM assigns the monitors this way:
P2417H (HDMI) Assigned as monitor 1
U2414H (DisplayPort) Assigned as monitor 3
P2417H (HDMI) Assigned as monitor 2

As you see it changed a bit.

Whenever I run this command in CMD the monitor switches to HDMI:
ddm.exe /1:SetActiveInput HDMI

If you checked above you see DDM monitor 1 is HDM so it switches back to the same input source (screen only flashes black then comes back)

This is correct!
But when I execute the DP  command on the same monitor the screen turns black like it is supposed to because there is not input to the DP. If I then run the HDMI command again(I type HDMI blindly in the cmd window) it switches back to the HDMI input and I see my computer screen again.

This all works like it is supposed to.

The issue is the The Dell U2414H (DisplayPort) monitor
This monitor is assigned as monitor 3 in DDM (check top of this post)

My Laptop sends a DP source to this monitor.
My XBOX One sends a HDMI Source to this monitor

When I run this command on my computer
ddm.exe /3:SetActiveInput HDMI
The monitor switches to my XBOX One Input.

But when I re-execute this command again to active the DP source nothing happens.
The screen stays on XBOX/HDMI

I tried changing the /3 number to 0/1/2/3/4 but the command still doesn't switch the input source from this monitor.
I tried to run /rescan no result.
I tried changing ddm.exe /3:SetActiveInput HDMI to DP,DP1,DP2,MDP1,MDP2.HDMI1,HDMI2,HDMI3,VGA,DVI
Still the monitor refuses to switch back it's input source

Why doesn't this work because the monitor is still active, and also still recognized in windows? How can I resolve this issue and be able to switch my monitor input source from windows while my Xbox is active on this monitor?

I'm afraid there is nothing you can do about this.  It is a limitation of the U2414H and other older models, which accept DDC/CI commands only over the active input. In your case, the active input is HDMI and the only commands that will be received by the monitor must come over HDMI. Commands set over DP to activate DP won't reach it.

If possible, try using the U2414H OSD "shortcut key" to switch to DP from the Xbox/HDMI.
