U2722DE, DDPM, macOS logs in home folder

Hi, I have installed latest DDPM version1.0.2.0017 under my MacBook Pro M1 (14", 2021) with macOS Monterey 12.5.1

Every day, when I run DDPM, a log file is created in my user home:

  • DellMonitorSdk-SUN.log
  • DellMonitorSdk-MON.log
  • DellMonitorSdk-TUE.log
  • DellMonitorSdk-WED.log
  • DellMonitorSdk-THU.log
  • DellMonitorSdk-FRI.log
  • DellMonitorSdk-SAT.log

All logs are for DEBUG mode of the software. Is it possible to configure software to be less verbose or change the directory of the logs? Where can I set this option?

Thanks for the help

I encountered the same problem. I was using a MacBook M1 and had the older version of DDPM (intel) installed. I uninstalled the old version and installed the new version of DDPM specifically for the M1 chip, and this resolved the issue.

To which specific Dell monitor is the MacBook Pro M1 14 connected?

Nope. I have not heard anything on how to change the directory of the logs or stop them from being created.

Is it possible that in the development roadmap this possibility can be added or at least the application can be built and distributed with an higher LOG levels (i.e. only ERROR and/or WARNING).

Log files all contain DEBUG stuff that is generally useful for a development process but not for a production release.

Same issue here. Just got off the online support with a rep that is insisting this is on Apple's end. Advisement from rep: uninstall DDPM. Thanks Dell; let's blame Apple users. $700 monitor bundled nicely with log dumps. Fun times!

It's clear that is a bad configuration on the Dell software!

First lines of each log is:

2022-12-12 17:54:34.154 [2442:13554] DEBUG --- SDK V4.0.1.9 MACOS ---------------------------
2022-12-12 17:54:34.154 [2442:13554] DEBUG Log File: /Users/.../DellMonitorSdk-MON.log
2022-12-12 17:54:34.147 [2442:13554] DEBUG UP_API:SetDebugLevel(3)-SUCCESS
2022-12-12 17:54:34.208 [2442:13554] DEBUG UP_API:GetVersionSDK()

We can see that the SDK (of course for Mac OS....) is setting log folder inside the user home (I put three dots to hide my username) and it sets also the debug level to value 3 (the most verbose?) etc....

I'm a software developer too and usually this kind of settings are done for a development process not for a production build!

At least folder and log level are configurable in some ways (external configuration files, environment variables, etc...)

It would be nice to have here a Dell developer to speak with, because I think there is a way to move o simply quite this logs or at least is a quick fix to introduce in a next release!

All users should uninstall the older version and install the latest macOS DDPM 1.1.0.0033. When done restart the PC and retest.

This problem still occurs with version 1.2.0.0054. Is there a way to stop these log files from appearing in the user's home directory?
