Default Monitor, Can not update driver

Ok, I tried to update something in XP and things got a bit wonky. I reinstalled XP now suddenly I'm in the VGASave prison. I'm using a dimesion 2300 with an 1800FP monitor. When I go to my settings it just tells me the default monitor is installed. I have checked the forums and nothing has helped yet. I fear I'm stuck using this computer with HUGE FONTS AND HUGE WINDOWS until it's death. I checked inside and of course, on board video so I can't remove it and reinstall, especially since the Device Manager doesn't even show any monitors installed. I know VGAsave is for your video when it fails, but I'm confused, I already have on board video and like the background looks great, as good as it ever did so I don't see what the deal is with everything else. I've reinstalled the video drivers from Dell and everything, but still no luck. Can anyone help me at all?

rockstardaddy,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

Try reinstalling the chipset drivers and then you need to reinstall the video card drivers back into the system.

Thanks for the reply. The one disc I have, I installed all of the drivers from and still nothing. Is there somewhere online I can find both of these drivers I need?

Ok man you totally saved me. I wasn't downloading the chipset drivers again and that's what totally fixed this. Thank you again!

One omre question since you seem to know all, after I installed a DVD burner I keep getting a message anytime I boot up that says "Passwords have been deleted, please set the password switch to the open position to reboot" or something like that, then I press F1 and I boots up. Anyideas?
