Dell 1704FPTt

Question

I just received my refurbished 1704 Monitor last night. I have a few pixel problems, and I just want to confirm that I have no options in this matter. Other than a few 'dead' pixels, I really am pleased with this monitor. It integrates into my system very well, and obviously takes up a lot less space than my previous VGA. I am awaiting my Matrox 650 dual monitor card which will support the DVI, (currently only running analog), and will be purchasing another 17' monitor in February. I use Cubase SL3.0 music software which supports two monitors, and am looking forward to eventually completing this setup. By purchasing the refurbished monitor, I saved a few duckets, and will complete this system sooner.   There are two obvious dead pixels near the center of the screen, and are just basically ANNOYING! I verified that it was not anything less serious. When I was considering a Sony monitor, the literature mentioned that any monitor with less than 5 dead pixels would not be considered defective, and that with LCD/TFT monitors a few dead pixels is 'commonplace'. However, I have spent a considerable amount of time perusing monitors at Best Buy, and of about 10-12 monitors I examined, only one exhibited any obvious dead pixels. My mother just received her new Dell inspiron 700 last week, and I haven't noticed any pixel problems with that system.   Question,....Is this REALLY normal?  Is this only because this is a refurbished model? Do I have the option of exchange? If this is only because it's a refurbished monitor, can I pay extra and upgrade to a new monitor without Pixel issues? As I mentioned, I'm considering purchasing an additional monitor in a few weeks, If I buy a refurbished model, what are the chances that it will have any dead pixels?   I chose to purchase the refurbished model and was NOT expecting it to be perfect. Other than the Pixel issue, It is flawless,.. not even a fingerprint, or a scratch, and I was really pleased,.. actually I AM really pleased, I just want some clarification.   Thank you.

My 1704FPV has one dead pixel; I don't even notice it anymore.  Like you said, it is just annoying.   Other then on this 1704, I have never noticed a dead pixel.
