Dell 2405 UltraSharp Flat Screen - Using it as a TV...? Sound problems....
Ok so I have the Dell 2405 Ultrasharp flat screen, and it works with my pc wonderfully. However... enthralled by its potential... I decided to hook it up to my N64 ( for SmashBrothers of course....), and that's when my troubles began. I am unable to get any sound unfortunately... since I don't utilize a soundbar. My computer sound is setup through an amplifier, but when i plut the n64 into the antenna spot i don't seem to have any way to produce the classic battle-sounds of mario's fireballs pelting jigglypuff.
I am just trying to figure out if there is some way I can successfully take advantage of the monitor's potential use as a TV without purchasing a soundbar?
It would seem absurd for me to be unable to have sound outputs while utilizing the composite video.
Ideally I would be able to somehow connect my n64 or TV and enjoy the sound, without buying a soundbar? Am I too optimistic?
Anyways now this post is officially getting redundant.. sorry to come to you guys asking this question... but support has been utterly useless in assissting me. Primarily b/c on the back of my dell monitor (which i ordered from Costco online, doesn't seem to have an indentifiable service number?!?!
Hope to hear from someone soon, ..

Well... without speakers, the monitor by itself won't be able to produce sound, so a Soundbar might be one solution. However, check your manual for how it hooks up - it only hangs from the monitor, it doesn't take any feed from the monitor. It takes a 'mini stereo plug' from your computer's audio output jack as its input.
The other might be simply to split the feed, perhaps with the help of some extensions. Plug the yellow video cable into the monitor. Run the Red/White audio cables to your amp or to inputs on your soundcard. You may need to get an adapter to convert from discrete cables to a single stereo plug to do this.
Hope that helps.
