Dell Monitor purchased at Walmart
Recently I, purchased a Dell monitor at my local walmart. (19"SE198WFP) I was very happy with my purchase until I found out that cannot registor my monitor for the warranty. The only thing that is on the back of it is the serial #. There is no customer order number, and walmart did not no what I was talking about when I asked for one.
I made this purchase based on what was on the box regarding the warranty, 3yrs and 24x7 tech support. If there was something different regarding the warranty it should be on the box stated plainly, and I as a customer should not have dig for it. Calling dell support was a waste of time...... and that makes no sense at all, could someone out there who is with dell explain this?????

Dell support should be able to replace it without a problem should the need arise, we have a policy in place that covers you if you purchased the monitor from a retailer and don't have an order number.

Jimmy,
First, thanks for the speedy response. Question though, what is the warranty lenght? On the box it is stated as being for 3yrs is this correct? If not what is the correct warranty length? Second, what it the telephone number or department that, I need to contact for warranty service? And is this policy located somewhere on your web site, so that customers can read it? Since dell is selling products through different channels than in the past, maybe dell have something on you site, that relates to warranty support for products bought through your retail partners.
Again thanks,
Blendman

I too bought from Walmart based on the "support claim", I do not need to replace the monitor, but I do need some info regarding the camera. Without an order number you can not get any where with support, even the "find my service number" program returns an unusable number.
My last monitor was a viewsonic and I didn't think any one could have support as bad as them, but now I am beginning to wonder!!

gregvx,
If it fails, we would use the monitor PPID serial number to verify it is within 3 years old and generate an order number wwhen issuing an exchange.

Hi Chris and Jimmy,
I too am having an issue with a Dell Monitor. I purchased a Dell 22" E228wfp monitor from Walmart. As you know, Walmart does not give out order numbers, and this monitor does not have a service tag. The monitor will not display anything but red on it. I have done everything including re-installing drivers, changing signal wires, using a different computer and all. I have even run a monitor self test and all it displays is red. I checked the color settings as well. I tried contact phone tech support. What a nightmare! No help. Just...let me transfer you. This monitor is shot. Please help! Thanks
Edwin

If I were you I would go back to Walmart with these posts printed out and show them to the manager and then insist on a refund, then take your refund and go purchase an LG.
