Does the Dell 3008wfp accept Display Port audio? Of course, assuming that all other requirements are met. i.e, the source outputs audio through Display Port.

After installing the latest version of Catalyst and updating some drivers and then giving up and going through ATI's frustrating web form experience,

surprisingly after yet another reboot, the audio started to work from the DP port.

Several days later I got this ironic reply from ATI:

unfortunetly the radeon 4670 is not capable of producing audio via display port.  The only audio capability is via hdmi.

Hi Rossisen,

I am experiencing the same problem (no audio via DisplayPort). Before going through the whole experience of downloading/installing the Catalyst drivers from ATI, I just wanted to know if you are still successfully getting audio via the DisplayPort no problems? i.e. do you think the updated ATI drivers fixed it??

Many thanks

I am reliably getting audio via DP now.  I do think the drivers fixed it.  Don't forget to restart both the computer and the monitor (maybe even change the input to HDMI and back to DP).  I also get a blue screen every week or two - on login - that I attribute to the display drivers!  I can't think of any of the other things that I did that would have fixed it.  It worked just before I got the reply from ATI that it wouldn't!

Rossisen, do you know which version of the Catalyst drivers you downloaded? I downloaded the 10.7 drivers from ATI and I've tried every combination, but can't seem to get it working! Maybe you were lucky? Or maybe you did something different? I can get it via HDMI, but not DP.

I am on Windows 7 64-bit, with a Dell Studio XPS 1647 and Dell U2410 monitor. Is your setup significantly different?

Also, by reboot the monitor, do you just mean turn it off and back on again?

I've determined to get this working, but feel I am just missing a small detail. Any response would be appreciated...

Cheers

I downloaded 10-5_vista64_win7_64_dd_ccc_enu.exe and installed that.  When you go to Control Panel | Display | Screen Resolution
| Advanced Settings | ATI Catalyst Control Centre and go to Help | About - it says Version 2010.0122.858.16002 and .NET Framework Version 2.0.50727.4952

Our configurations are very similar - I have an XPS 1645 running 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate (what level are you running?).

I did mean turn the monitor off and on.

You may contact me directly at <ADMIN NOTE:Email id removed per privacy policy> if you want to take this off-forum.

I understand your tenaciousness - I thought it should be easier to make work than it was.

Can you outline where/how you selectively chose different drivers?

When the Catalyst install program runs (i.e. Catalyst Install Manager), choose 'Custom' install (not 'Express'), then it will detect the components you've got installed.

It will let you select individual components to install. I think the 'HDMI/DP Audio Driver' is the same in both the 10.5 and 10.7 installation packages, but the ATI Display Driver and Catalyst Control Center are different.

I am also unable to get audio via the 3.5mm output jack on my U2410 using DisplayPort. I am using Windows 7 (64-bit) on a Dell Precision T3500. Video card is ATI FirePro 2260.  Help! This is silly! It's been almost two years and this is still a problem?!?!?

Yes I tried 10.1 and. DisplayPort Audio did not work. Uninstalled it and reinstalled the beta driver I mentioned above. (Driver package version 8.70 RC1)

Using twitter @CatalystMaker has said "10.1 is just a standard release to fix up some bugs, but 10.2 and 10.3 will indeed have some major new features"

Discussion here on Guru 3d forums and link for beta driver 8.70RC2: http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=313969

It's comprehensive, Thanks for your explanation!

You are necromancing an out of date topic.

DP audio is regconized on my U2711, using Catalyst 10.12. I am trying to do the contrary of disabling DP audio, as I want my HDMI to take the audio instead, sign.
