I would advise you to look if a tone is assigned for ‘Device Connect’ under Sound. Please follow the steps below for assigning a tone for ‘Device Connect’.
Click on the Start button and open the Control Panel.
Once in the Control Panel, change your view to either large icons or Small icons. Look for and click and open on the ‘Sound’.
Click on ‘Sounds’ tab.
Under Program Events scroll down to ‘Device Connect’ and select it.
Check if Sounds is assigned by playing the ‘Test’.
If there is No sound assigned select ‘Windows Hardware Insert’ in the dropdown.
Sorry to say it didn't work. The 4 USB ports below the Memory card reader slot work just fine. I changed the wav sound to something like "I'll knock that smile off of your face" for connect and dis-connect od a new device. Like I said the 4 USB ports makes the sound perfect but when I plug in the memory card it shows up in my windows exployer but makes no sound what so ever so I'm about to just give it up. It's weird tho that when I bought this Dell U2410 monitor the very first time I plugged it in it made the correct sounds but after about the 3rd or 4th time it just stopped making a sound for the memory card reader all to gether. thanks for the help anyway. if you happen to figure it out let me know and maybe it just MIGHT work on my monitor but when you have the luck I have it doesn't look good no matter what way you look at it. Like I said. Thanks again.
I would advise you to update the Chipset and Audio driver on the system in a sequence. Please enter your service tag # on the link below, select the OS, then download the drivers required on the system and install it.
sorry to say I didn't buy this monitor from dell. I bouth it second hand so when it asks for a service tag number I simply do not have one. does this mean I can't get the driver I need for the memory card reader. I just talked to a friend of mine and he said I need a drifferent driver for the memory card sound. can you or have you already gave me a link to the driver I need? i'm not to smart when it comes to different drivers other than just for the monitor so bare with me please. do you have a link that will take me right to the place where the driver I need? sure would be of great help. if you can't then i'll just give up on it and say the with it if you can help I guess no one can. thanks for the help anyways.
A service tag number is not required to get a driver.
The monitor has nothing to do with the sound the operating system makes when new hardware is detected. You need to reinstall the computer sound card driver. So, is this a Dell computer? If yes, what model?
