Also a possible addition that I would like to say here is, since you had purchased the monitor from the retailer, it could have an older version of firmware loaded on it that might have possible glitches. So just to be on a safer side, if you choose to buy a Dell monitor, consider it buying directly from us so that you can be sure that it comes pre-loaded with the latest firmware. And assuring you peace of mind as well.
Dell U2412 24" monitor is a great choice. However, sorry about the bad experience you currently had with it. Since its an electronic component it may tend to go bad at any point of time. I understand it should not go bad this soon but then yes, that is when the warranty comes into place. Dell gives a 3 year default warranty on all of the Ultrasharp monitor series, doesn't matter if you have purchased it either directly from us or from the retailer.
So I would suggest, give it another try and I am sure you won't face the same issue. Rest assured, in case if you face any problem, we are here 24x7 to help you out and get your issue addressed.
Well the firmware of the monitor is something that Dell does not recommend upgrading / downgrading it. Also, we do not have any link specifically for monitors to check the firmware version. Sorry about that. If it was a laptop or a desktop I could have given you instructions for that, but for monitors we do not have such a facility. The reason is that for monitors the firmware is locked as per the factory settings before being shipped to the customer or the retailer.
