Dell U2414H white background problems

Hi,

I just bought this monitor (dell u2414h) 2 day ago. I noticed that on white background there is a shadow/grey color on left side of the display and right up corner. Should I return or keep it?

Hi there, I personally would try using the monitor sitting right in front of it and see if you notice it, and then see how it looks while in use. You might be able to try adjusting the monitor settings, but sometimes this can vary. Here are some good tips/explanations to look at. How does the monitor look on a dark background and what input are you using in this picture?

Here are some further monitor FAQs

Best regards,

Brad

Hi. Thanks for answer.

Here are two more detailed pictures. I used 50% brightness and 50% contrast.

The first one is on white background and the second one on black bacground.

I don't use teh monitor on black backgrounds too much, but a lot on white backgrounds since I use it the most for web design.

The most bothering thing for me is that one white background there is on the right up corner a "smoky shadow" that goes radiant 10-15 cm to the center of the screen. And the colors in that spot appears a little fadded.

Thanks,

Albert

And another question: its normal that the half left side has a cooler color and the other half on the right side has a warmer color?

Thank you for yur time.

Hi Albert- I spoke with our monitor expert Chris (he wrote the FAQs I posted earlier) and he let me know as per the images that you shared and the FAQ he posted that these are within manufacturer specs.

From my experience with monitors I personally would try it out in real scenarios and see if you're happy with it or even try advanced color/brightness calibrations on the monitor. But with that said... was this a recent purchase from Dell? Because at the end of the day, if you're not happy with the results a return is possible within 30 days of the invoice date (if purchased through Dell).

Both of those FAQs/links I posted initially from Chris should cover any further questions, but if you need anything else please let me know.

Best regards,

Brad

Hi Brad. Thank you for your help and time. Appreciate.

I purchased the monitor from a retailer in my country. I asked for a return before talking with you, but they refused because I purchased the item in my company account, and they have this policy return about purchasing through company.

So, I just wanted to know from a specialist whether it is worth sending in service or keep it as it is because it is a normal behavior on IPS panels.

That being said, I will try to keep it as it is as long as right now the only bothering is as I said earlier, the top right corner which is a little "smooky" but nothing that can't live with.

Thank you again for your help.

Have a nice day!

Albert
