Dell U3011 Monitor Sound

I've connected my XBox 360 to the U3011 monitor (via HDMI) and using the audio out on the back of the monitor to my Logitech (2.1) speakers. The volume is too loud and distorted. My previous monitor (which had an audio out port) had no issues and the sound was good. How can I fix this problem?

Please help.

Hi gil10,

The loudness and distortion in sound could be due to mis-configured settings in XBOX or the speakers. My knowledge with XBOX is limited ; you may want to check with the experts to see how the volume changes can be made in XBOX for an optimum output. Would also recommend to check the volume settings on your speakers. You may try reducing the speaker volume to see if the distortion eliminates.

Very unlikely that the issue exists due to the monitor. The U3011 only redirects audio from source to line out and does not modify the audio. However, you may follow the steps below to reset the audio settings from the monitor and also change the output to desired configuration :

  • Use the side button '4' to bring the On-Screen Display (OSD) Menu

  • Use the 'Line Out Source' menu to select between different audio signals that may be connected to your monitor.

  • Audio offers two kind of configurations of audio channels. You may select between 2 channels and 5.1 channels.

  • You may also try to reset audio settings to the factory preset values using the 'Reset Audio Settings' option.

Hope this helps. Please reply if you have any further questions.
