Displayport to Displayport Connection Question
Hello,
I would like to ask if anyone have this problem and might know a permanent fix for it other than getting new monitors. So when I am connecting any monitors via dp to dp and when I turn off the monitors they make a disconnection sound like if you were unplugging a USB cable. When that happens all my windows get shifted around when I turn it back on. This seem to happen to specific brand/model monitors only. Ones I used are Dell and Asus and the both do the same but I currently have some Eizo and they don't do that.
I want to switch my 24 inch monitors to 27's but the only thing stopping me is that disconnection issue via DP to DP. It doesn't happen via HDMI to HDMI but video cards usually only have 1 or 2 hdmi ports. Please let me know if there are any solution to this. Thank you.

@nyctrouble It's surprising how much people want displays to maintain "presence" or specifically NOT maintain presence when switching inputs or powering off. Unfortunately this does vary from display to display, and I've never seen a display that allowed this to be configured. But each design has its pros and cons, and I wrote about this topic over in this thread. But I run my system 24/7 too. The solution here is to configure a display standby period, which you can do without having to set your system to sleep. The displays will not "disconnect" when the system places them into standby, and the power consumption in standby is basically nothing. And if you lock your Windows session, then the displays go into standby more quickly than even your timeout. I think it's one minute of inactivity on the lock screen.

Thank you. I sent a message to you guys. I would also like to see if other people in the community have this issue.
Many turn off their PC so might not notice this issue but my PC stay on 24/7 so I only turn off my monitors when I go to sleep. Hopefully there are a few out there that would experience the same issue and have an input. Thank you all in advance!

Thank you. I guess I will go with that. If that is the only solution to that issue, I guess that is just an habit I have to get use to. I'll just set turn off display 1 min before bed and set to 0 when I wake up

@nyctrouble Glad I could help, but I still think there's still an easier way to get you a workable solution than having to toggle your display timeout value twice per day. First, is there a reason you can't allow your displays to go into standby at all during the day? Are these kiosk displays that need to be viewed even during long periods of no interaction with the PC itself or something? Even if you have a use case along those lines, the longest "non-Never" timeout is 5 hours. As long as that would be tolerable during the day, then as I said above, when you're on the Windows lock screen -- which can be quickly accessed by pressing WinKey+L and does not require signing out -- the display standby timeout is 1 minute, regardless of what you have it to set in Windows. The only exception is if you have it set to Never, in which case the lock screen never times out either. But as long as you can handle a 5-hour timeout during the day and are willing to press WinKey+L at night -- which would be much faster than changing the setting every night -- then you can have little to no change to display behavior during the day and still get your displays into standby 1 minute after you leave your desk at night, without having to change settings all the time.
