E172FPt LCD Screen Problems with OSD

I have a problem with my LCD screen in that i cannot access the On Screen Display (OSD) by using the buttons on the screen. I also cannot turn my screen on and off using the power button on the screen. If I restart my computer, the point in which the computer has coming to the beginning with the dell logo, my screen goes black. It happens just in between start up and shut down. Also if i leave my computer on, once screen saver is supposed to come on the screen will go black and after i move the mouse the screen doesn't go back to how it was. When any of these things happen i have to remove the power plug to the screen and then plug it back in to get the screen to work.

Someone please help me.

Thank you

descent247,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

Go into the control panel and click on the power management options. You can then set the harddrive and monitor both to not enter standby or hibernate.

From what you're describing it sounds like a hardware issue to me. Basically, it sounds like you're saying the the buttons are non-responsive all of the time and if the screen enters a power saving mode (such as when you restart your computer) it turns off and doesn't turn back on. If this is true I doubt Jesse's response will get you very far. I'd call in to Dell support for a replacement.

Yea i already had tried the power options setting them so that nothing gets turned off or put on stand by and that didn't work. I've tried a ton of other things too and nothing seems to work. I too think it's  a hardware problem and hopefully dell will replace it.

Thanks for suggestions.
