E173FP or 1704FPV ???

My primary use will be viewing web pages and sometimes stock charts. I understand there are a lot of complaints about the E193FP text quality, does the E173FP have the same problems? Is it better to get the 1704FPV? Would appreciate hearing from owners of the E173FP and 1704FPV. Thanks!

Incidentally, I'm planning to get 2 of these to view them side by side.

I have no problems with my E173FP. I wear glasses and generally have issues with text on monitors, but mine is crip and clear. Have seen others complain about the 19" though?

One other thing I have learned with this flat panel monitor. Most of the sharpness comes from the angle you have the panel at to your eyes. I keep mine either elevated about 5 degrees above or below straight on at my face. That slight tilt makes all the difference in the world.

I just got my 1704FPV last Monday. I figured the extra usb ports, the height adjustment, the analog and DVI capabilities as well as the better specs would be worth the extra fifty dollars over the cost of the E173FP. My Dimension 2400 came with the E773c and I was very happy with that monitor but the monitor on my old Compaq was getting flaky so I ended up using the 1704FPV on my Dimension 2400 and the E773c on my Compaq that is still more than adequate to use to surf the internet. I have the 1704FPV attached analog and the installation of the 1704FPV using the enclosed CD set it up at 1024x768 and about a 72 hrz refresh rate. I tried the 1280x1024 setting which is suppose to be native but I did not see any difference so I switched back to the 1024x768 setting which I preferred. I did set the ClearType on and that seemed to help and I downloaded the most current Display and Video drivers off of the Dell download page and installed them. After doing that I found out that at 1024x768 the 1704FPV should be set at 60 or 75 hrz and I chose the 60 setting. So now when I compare the display on my 1704FPV to the E773c I can't see much difference except the 1704FPV has a bigger viewing area. I don't game but I was prepared to get a PCI video card so I could attach the monitor using the DVI port but I am very happy with the quality and don't see a need for the video card for what I use the computer for. Hope this helps.
