E228WFP Couldn't Set Max Resolution

Hi All,

I'm using E228WFP (max resolution 1680x1050) with Windows Vista, previously before I facing problem with my LCD (I had it replaced with warranty), I'm running under max resolution, with my nVidia 6600 graphics card, after I switch with replacement LCD, I tried to update to latest graphics card driver, and also driver for my E228WFP, still could not get the max resolution.

Previously I'm using VGA cable to connect to my CPU, now I had to use DVI cable for me to use 1680x1050 resolution.

How can I fix this problem? Thanks.

Stephensaw,

List all of the resolutions you see using both DVI and VGA.

Does E228WFP show in the device manager?

Hi ChrisM,

For DVI, I can have 1680x1050 resolution, for VGA, I can go for 1600x1200, but it wouldn't allow me to go for that resolution.

In Device Manager, under Monitor, by default it shows Generic Non-PnP Monitor, if I plug in DVI and VGA (I'm having dual monitor now, but I prefer single), it shows Generic Non-PnP Monitor and Generic PnP-Monitor.

I had tried to update driver for the monitor, but Vista keeps using Generic Non-PnP Monitor driver, instead of the E228WFP driver. I had forced it to use E228WFP driver I downloaded from Dell website, although it shows E228WFP at Device Manager there, but I still yet couldn't get the maximum resolution, the maximum I can see is 1600x1200.

Thanks.
