E228WFPc Monitor Issue
Yep, another one of those posts. Infamous E228WFP display problem.
Is it 100% confirmed that a bad inverter board is what causes the back light to suddenly turn off? I dismantled it to find the board, fiddled around with it (didn't see anything obviously wrong like blown caps) and put it back together. Instead of 2 seconds, ran for about 10 then started blanking again. Now it's back to 2 seconds.
Shining a flash light does show the dell test pattern on it.
It's real difficult to find the replacement boards (the part number for a revised board 715G2244-2 is near impossible to find, some chinese (knock offs?) come up for around $40 but I have no idea how good those are.
I love the size of this monitor and it's specs, but it's looking like it will get scrapped if I can't figure out a concrete answer on if it's the inverter board. Even other threads on the site here seem to say the replacement part number above may have the same problem?
It's a headache... Not sure where to go at this point

Thank you for your assistance. Does this cure the problem, or does it come roaring back in?
The monitor looks gently used other wise, wasn't dusty and clogged up/no gouges in the lcd portion.
I'd hate to have it die in a short time

No idea. We do not repair monitors, we simply replace them while under warranty.
