Interesting question. I have sent it up the line to the engineers. But, know that even if you could edit the EDID, that would be voiding the warranty. Just be aware of that.

* No idea. We have never done this.

If you try to send this resolution to a Dell 2005 or 2405 FPW display it won't display correctly. Reason is that EDID is missing those resolution right?
* The 2005FPW cannot do anything above 1680 x 1050, EDID edited or not.
* The 2405FPW might take a 1920x1080 signal, but the display will be stretched slightly to fit the 1920x1200 screen. The 2407WFP had the same issue and we fixed it with a bios update, but only because the 2407WFP is still selling as new.

If you could just provide the timing and frequency that are needed to support 1920x1080 we could work out a solution for those monitors.

This kind of support is very disappointing. To update the 2407 simply because it is still on sale is not good enough. Technical support should last throughout a product's life. Considering how well the 2405 sold, there must be thousands of people looking to display the universal HD standard of 1920x1080. It's not like it's a tough fix - we're not requesting HDCP compliance. An Xbox 360 can already display 1:1 1920x1080 via VGA on the 2405, we just want it to be accepted 100% through DVI and VGA, with the exception of HDCP sources. This is a much needed techinical update for any 24" monitor. Please support your products properly.

I must agree, I find this product support extremely disappointing.  It is understandable that Dell may not be able to offer an HDCP update for the 2405, as it is a feature of their newer product, the 2407.  However, I have personally tested the 1920x1080 input resolution on my 2405, and find that Chris's response is incorrect.  The 1920x1080 input is incorrectly stretched horizontally, and not vertically when the correct Image Settings > Scaling OSD menu is set to either "1:1" or "Aspect".  A slight vertical stretch, as produced by the "Fill" option would be acceptable, but this sort of behavior by the display cannot be considered anything other than a severe bug in the display.  So, I'm not asking for a new feature for free, I'm just asking that Dell fix a bug in their firmware, on a product I paid something like $1000 for.  If they choose not to, I consider it an indication of poor practices by the company, and will not consider purchasing any more of their products.
