Help Monitors
Please help, placed this same post in the gaming section as well.
I recently put in my order for a new pc for college. However I am in a but of a bind dealing with monitors. I put together a very hardcore gaming system (specs below) and I don't want to be slowed down by a monitor. First off, I know usually smaller monitors have faster frame rates etc, but I'd rather have a bigger picture ~20 in viewable. Also I plan on hooking up my xbox/playstation to the monitor as well, and maybe even tv. That said I read a review that said lcds are recomended for this muti-multimedia task. So I ordered dell's 2001fp which was recomended by maximum pc. However I recieved it, and as nice of a moniter as it seems, great for movies etc... I hooked my xbox up through its s-video input and the quality was just k-rap, I also tried the vga input and that was even worse. So I read some more reviews and there seems to be alot of hype saying it is horrible for gaming, yet some people say its great. Unfourtionatly my new system wont be delivered until september so I can't test it, but I'm thinking about returning it or trading it in for the NEC MultiSync FE2111SB 22-inch Flat-Screen CRT. I mean, I know crts are the best for gaming but I didn't think the dell monitor would be so bad. So here are my questions:
-Does anyone know if dell will take this back/trade it in? I've only had it for a couple of days and haven't had time to call...
-Does anyoneone else use the 2001fp for gaming that could recommend it for gaming?
I mean like doom 3, UT2K4, Warcraft etc... Not the sims... (I can't test these games on my current computer, they wont work.)
-Has anyone hooked up their ps2/xbox through the 2001fp a different way and found it to look smooth? Like maybe the pc's vga, I haven't been able to try that yet.
-Has anyone hooked up their ps2/xbox to a CRT and had good image quality etc? Can you recomend any VGA boxes etc?
-Does anyone know of a ~22in CRT that preforms better than the NEC? I heard that the Viewsonic P225fb might?
-Anyone have anything else to add or reccomend, feel free.
-Thanks.
