How to Open Dell Monitor
Hi -
I'm having trouble with my Dell Flatscreen LCD
E173FPB Monitor -- it appears to be a fairly common issue in which the green LED blinks and the screen flashes dimly, and the only thing that works is banging on it, after which the picture comes right back, and the monitor appears to be restarting. This tells me it's a power issue. I don't want to get too deep into the symptoms of the problem, because I found a great webpage that explains how to fix it via replacing the transistors. The one thing the page doesn't tell me is how to open the monitor!
(Oh, and it's completely out of warranty, which I let expire because Dell has been rediculously bad at helping with anything, and these forums are my only source of knowledge.)
There are four screws that attach the stand to the monitor, but when I unscrew these, the piece that it revealed is just solid plastic, with no new screws, nor any obvious way to open the monitor. There appears to be a slight opening along the bottom (not back) of the monitor, with what looks like metal clips inside, but a small phillip's head didn't open it easily, and I'm a bit afraid to force it.
Can anyone tell me how to get to the "guts" of the monitor?
Thanks loads in advance (you guys always save me)!

We do not recommend this. You might try contacting a local repair service.
