Get the monitor replaced. If you only have a monitor order number, you should contact Customer Service. If your monitor was purchased tied to a Dell PC, contact Technical Support. I appreciate the assistance. However, after being extremely positive to he agent who was trying to help my situation, I am very disappointed in Dell customer service.
The agent on the phone, whose name I couldn't make out was overly rude and un-helpful in creating a solution. The only solution he had was 'buy a new monitor.' and would not discuss any warranty or repair options.
I asked to be transfered to a supervisior and was placed on hold for 46 minutes, then line was picked up and terminated. I have recommended Dell in the past as being the Toyota Camry of computers for their reliability, however I will never purchase nor recommend a Dell product again.
I have the same issue. Customer service is a joke. Is there anythig else I can do? This monitor is 18 months old and used VERY little. I also get a flashing amber light on my XPS 720 power button. I have to pull power cord for 30 minutes and plug back in and then it usually come up. I paid a good chunk of change for this system and I feel I waisted my money. Dell used to be THE PC company to buy from but I do not know what happened. My company is in the process of buying new computers and servers and all of our old stuff is Dell and had good luck with them but I feel we may need to explore other options. This might not be the place to post this but I felt like saying whats on my mind. Thanks
The power lights are on but the screen is black. When I press the power button off, then on, the monitor makes a fuzz noise while auto-detect icon shows up and I can see my desktop for about two seconds. Then all goes black and the noise goes away. I've connected the monitor to two computers and get the same result.
Dell UltraSharp 2208WFP Flat Panel Monitor purchased with an XPS 420 and under warranty.
I have had endless correspondence with customer service via email with no resolution. I have the distinct impression my dialog is with people who do not read much of anything I say but rather respond from cue cards. Perhaps they are hoping to stall me until the warranty expires.
I called and spoke to someone in the technical department, give him my Service and Express Tags. He told me to use the other port and when I said I had already tried that I was cut off and no one called me back.
I first reported the problem to Dell 9/17/2009 and have got absolutely nowhere. What I do have is mounting frustration and anger at Dell.

Have you tried the monitor on another system to verify if the issue is with the monitor or the system?
