LCD TV W4200HD, Optical Digital Out (SPIDF)

Question

Hi, I'm trying to connect a SONOS Beam to the Optical Digital Out (SPIDF) Port on the 17 year old LCD TV W4200HD Plasma TV. The SONOS doesn't appear to recognize the connection. Has anyone successfully connected an external speaker via the Optical Digital Out (SPIDF) Port on a Dell W4200D? Thanks Much! -Watho

Don't have this TV But I am assuming an Optical Adapter would be required to plug the TV  TV > SPDIF-Out to Beam (using the optical adaptor).
