MST UP2716D to 2408WFP glitching

Hi all; noob here so let me know if I am getting this wrong...

I recently purchased a UP2716D as a primary screen to complement my aging 2408. It's running from a GTX760 on DP to the mDP input on the 2716 then DP out to DP in on the 2408. Had many problems getting the 2408 to hold it's native resolution, however I have random glitches occurring on the 2408 and a single row of pixels at the top of the screen constantly glitching.

Main reason I want to use MST is because my work requires 2 screens and I'm swapping between a work laptop/dock arrangement to my desktop on a regular basis.

The DP-DP cable I'm using is fairly old (probably came with the 2408) but has never had problems previously. Finding new cables to test is virtually impossible where I live as it seem people here are still rocking VGA connectors with the odd HDMI thrown in for good measure.

I understand that this problem is not unique to me but I wonder if anyone can suggest a path forward?

Many thanks!

We never tested the UP2716D MST daisy chain on the eight year old 2408WFP. To start, you should get the newer Dell DP to DP cable and test it to find out if your old one was the culprit.

Possible configurations =

UP2716D DP out --> DP to DP cable --> 2nd monitor DP in
UP2716D DP out --> DP to mDP cable --> 2nd monitor mDP in

Thanks for the rapid reply Chris; I figured I might have been breaking new (old) ground with the 2408.

I'll grab a couple of cables on my travels and see if I can get it to play the game. No issues with a DP-mDP/DP-DP chain then?

Thanks Chris. Graphics card to UP2716D is DP-mDP then DP out to DP in on the 2408. I'll get these cables swapped out and cross my fingers!
