Monitor Resolution Change.

I just recently was given a year-old Dell from my cousin. I had it at my dad's, and I turned it on to take a look. All went well until I tired to play the Sin City DVD on it. The program in question (Power DVD), told me that I needed to fix the resolution, to 1024 x 768 res. I said okay, and then the monitor picture went blnk, and the green light on the bottom began to flash. The problem is, they haven't stopped doing it. I le t it sit for about an hour last time, but I had to turn it off in order to transport it back to my house. I hooked it up here, and it's still doing the same thing. Errrr...what do I do?

What monitor is it?  If the monitor (or video card) does not support that resolution it will not be able to display it.

You need to boot in safe mode and set your resolution to something that is viewable by both the monitor and able to be displayed by the video card.

If it was working before then it should work again. If you have another computer, then hook the screen up to it to make sure thats its not a hardware issue. Also try and hook up another screen to the computer to make sure that your computer is ok. Then go from there. Try connecting in analog mode. Eliminate all the hardware questionables then move onto software.
