Monitor Warranty from Retailer

Question

I'm looking at buying a Dell Ultrasharp U2412M from Amazon UK, but I see that a few people are having troubles confirming the warranty status with Dell because it doesn't come with a service tag. From what I've read, dell require the original order number from the retailer before they can check the warranty?

How would I be able to confirm the warranty length of the Amazon stock before purchasing? Do dell hold a list of authorised retailers, or would I need to get the order number from Amazon then ring Dell? I did contact Amazon, but just got a standard reply asking me to contact Dell.

* You can try, but they make it difficult since they buy in bulk. My advice, buy directly from our website. Then you will get a Dell warranty and a Dell invoice with a Dell order number.

This is a follow on question of sorts.

I'm want to buy a Dell u2412m monitor that's 2 months old (17th April 2012) which was bought from Amazon.co.uk. I've been sent a picture of the invoice with all the details of the original purchaser including the following Amazon.co.uk order number:

Order number removed per privacy policy>

The original purchaser says he hasn't registered the warranty with Dell.

If I was to purchase this monitor from him would I be able to contact Dell and register the warranty under my name even though it was bought by someone else?

Also, is there any chance for Dell to tell me using the order number what type and how long this warranty is for (I know Dell have a standard 1-year warranty)? I specifically want to find out if it's a 3-year Next Business Day warranty?

Would really appreciate a quick response.
