Monitor displaying Auto Adjust in progress

Hi there,
This is my first post here.
Can anyone advise me as to what to do regarding my monitor displaying 'Auto adjust in progress' every time at start up? I have had my system Dimension 3100 for  just over 2 years  but it has only just started to happen.:smileymad:
At first ,my desktop was being displayed across to the left with about 25mm of black on the right hand side. I had to press the  + button on the monitor to adjust it.It was later suggested I alter the refresh rate on the screen ,it was 72, so I re set it to  75 ( the only other option), which seemed to work(i didn't have to press the button). But at start up it adjusts  each time back to a central position displaying the message. Its just a bit annoying and why would it just start to do this?

Is there anything I can do to re set it properly so this doesn't happen?
Many thanks
Deb

goodoldeb,

It sounds like Windows Update may have pushed a new video card driver onto your PC. You could reload the original Dell video card driver and see if the issue goes away.

* Dimension 3100 video card driver
* Click Download Now
* Click Run and follow the prompts
* When finished, restart the PC

Hi Chris,
thank you for responding to my question, I thought I would just check things before I downloaded the driver and my system is a Dimension 3000  (stupid me !!!) NOT 3100, can you tell me if its still the same driver? I don't want to make things any worse by downloading the wrong thing.
 Thanks
Deb

Hi I have the same issue except my computer turns completely black after the auto adjust in progress disappears.

When I move the mouse or press any keys nothing happens.

Thanks!
Jessica
