Monitor is "jumpy", Need Help

I have a Dell M991 monitor, latest(2001) drivers, Windows XP, service pack 2, all the updates, etc. Radeon 9800 Pro graphics card, the latest Omega Drivers on that.

The Problem: The screen randomly jumps from side to side for a second, and then back to normal, just a half inch or fraction of an inch, several times a minute, constantly. Needless to say it is very annoying and starting to give me headaches. It's not a virus, I have sufficient anti-virus software and just wiped my computer and re-installed windows, so it's a clean slate. It's done this before, but has gone away. I don't know if my monitor is just getting old or what?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Sounds like the high voltage power supply is going on that monitor. Time to toss it and get a new one. In any case, repairs are at a minimum of ~100 dollars on CRT's. I've seen dozens of older Gateway Mag Scan monitors do this, all with failing high volt power supplies.

I have found: my refrigerator makes my Sony monitor shake, so does the a/c. Any large electric motor or small transformer near a monitor may cause this. You could try a higher refresh rate, it may help, or substitute monitors to eliminate the computer as a cause. If the monitor seems to do it no matter what, service/upgrade needed..
