Meiann,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

Change the monitor to its optimal resolution to see if that will help.

  1. Click the Start button, point to Settings, and click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click the Display icon in the Control Panel window, and then click the Settings tab.
  3. In the Desktop area, move the slidebar to 1024 by 768 pixels. Then click OK.

You can also make sure that there are no electrical devices close to the monitor that may cause a magnetic interference. (speakers, woofers, phones etc.) Another thing is that if there is fluorescent lighting in the room that will give the shaking effect as well. Remove any monitor cable extensions if any are connected.

Jesse,

Thanks for the reply, but changing the resolution didnt work, it actually seemed to make it worse. There are no fluorescent lights near by and i thought maybe it was the ceiling fan, but ive left it off for a couple days now and nothing has changed.

Im open to any other ideas! Thanks!

Meiann,

Go into the monitors OSD controls and choose to Degauss the monitor to see if that will help.

My desktop is shaking on the bottom right hand side also my toolbar in that area. I have tried changing as described above without sucess.

When i turn my pc on  the icons start to appear i notice they shake also but then stop.

In fact every website i go to is shaking just a tad. What causes this and how can i correct it.

Thank you very much!!!! I hope this does not mean my monitor is going...

3kids,

Try just changing the refresh rate. To change the refresh rate you can go into the display properties and click the settings tab. From there click advanced then Adapter or Monitor. You can change both. You will then see where to change the refresh rate. Try different settings to see if the problem goes away.

This is what i see when i go to advanced. I do not see the word Refresh rate anywhere unless it does not state these words.

There is a pc screen on the top left hand side. Beside that states, Plug and Play Monitor  (change thingy) is along that....

Under this states Options.

Monitor is energy star complaint (dulled out)

Automatically detect plug & Play monitors (that is checked)

Reset display on suspend/resume (checked also)

If I click on the change button I get a window that states, Update Device Driver Wizard. This wizard searches for updated driver for DellM991

Windows can search for and install an updated driver to replace the one currently being used by your hardware or you can specify the location of another driver

what would you like to do? automatic search for a  better driver (recommended) (checked) or

specify the location of the driver ( advanced) unchecked

I am sorry but i do not understand the above.  If i search for a better driver am i asking for probems that require a computer wiz to figure out? Thank YOU
