P1130 -- Low Contrast when Calibrating with OptiCAL / Spyder
I have a Dell P1130 FD Trinitron monitor, with my Dimension 8300 system. This system is incredible, with one exception ... When I attempt to calibrate the monitor (to facilitate photo / image editing) I cannot achieve the required contrast setting. The Pantone / ColorVision program says to adjust the monitor's contrast to a value of 90 cd / m2 ... the maximum that I can get from the monitor (at 100 % contrast setting) is 64.5 cd / m2. A check of the Black point is good, but a check of the white point shows the same problem -- 64.5 cd / m2 is the most I can achieve from the monitor. The brightness and colour temperature calibrations work fine -- it's just the contrast that seems to be low. I am operating the monitor at what I think are the optimal / recommended settings: 1280 X 1024 @ 85 HZ. refresh rate.
When I unpacked the new system I noticed several small "rubbed" spots on the plastic enclosure of the monitor (which didn't appear to coincide with any placement of the packing materials). I didn't think much of it at the time ... but now I'm beginning to wonder -- is it possible that Dell inadvertantly shipped a refurbished P1130 with my (otherwise) new system?
Any comments / recommendations are greatly appreciated.

It is my understanding that New Components Ship from one location, refurbished from another. Not to mention that refurbs are marked as such both on the item & the packaging.
I highly doubt you got a refurb.
