P2418D, USB3 port problem causes Windows 10 error

Hello, I hope someone here can help me with my Dell monitor or maybe give some tips for a fix.

I own the Dell P2418D 24" monitor and the top USB3 port on the side has a problem. The USB port no longer recognizes any connected USB 3.0 devices, such as USB sticks, external hard drives, etc.

But the most annoying thing is the error message "The last USB device you connected to this computer has malfunctioned and windows doesn't recognize it". Every time Windows 10 is started or when a USB 3 device is connected to one of the other three USB ports on the monitor.

The other three USB 3 ports on the monitor work without any problems and recognize all connected devices without any issues.

The strange thing is, when USB 2.0 Devices are plugged into this problematic USB port, they work fine.

If I connect a USB 2.0 extension cable to this problematic USB port, USB 3 devices are also recognized on the USB 2.0 extension cable without any problems.

After all the things I have tried, I would say the fault is with the monitor and not with my PC. I have tested the monitor on three other PCs/Notebooks and the same behavior occurs on every other system. It also doesn't matter if Win10, Win11 or Linux is being used.

When I bought it, all USB ports worked fine. The monitor is also just out of warranty now. Is it possible to get spare parts from Dell ?

What I have tried so far:

- Deleting all USB drivers and reinstalling
- Reinstalling Windows 10
- Disable USB port power saving options on Windows 10
- Tested the monitor on three other PCs and a notebook with Windows 10 and 11, everywhere the same error. (AMD or Intel chipset does not change anything either).

- Under Linux the same error, reports error with the USB port.
- Settings of the monitor to factory settings
- Different USB upstream cable from monitor to PC
- With vacuum cleaner carefully removed dust from port
- Cleaned contacts with Q-tip and isopropanol

I don't really know what else I could do. Most annoying is the error message from Windows 10 every time I start the PC or plug in a USB device.

Maybe you guys have some tips what could be done.

Thanks for your help.

Dell does not repair monitors or sell monitor internal components. We only replace the whole monitor while still inside the purchased warranty period. Once outside of the purchased warranty period, you would have to seek a local Monitor/TV repair center to see if they can disassemble and diagnose the defective internal component. Then look for the internal component on 3rd party sites. Note, the cost of diagnosis and repair might outweigh the current used market value of the monitor.

This is of course very bad news that Dell does not sell replacement parts.
Of course, the monitor is now out of warranty for about 6 months, great Dell quality.

Is there any way to estimate if it is just a defective USB connector, then I could probably solder a new one myself.
Or whether it is a defective USB board or even a different board?
