P3421W, black borders

Just unpacked my P3421W monitor.  It looks great.  However, I cannot figure out how to get the picture to fill the entire screen.  Right now there are black borders on the left and right side of the screen.  Suggestions?  Thanks.

@Tomelot  Check Windows Display Settings to determine the resolution the system is using.  You'll find that under Start > Settings > System > Display.  If the source signal isn't already filling the entire display area, then it means that it's not sending a full resolution signal.  In that case, even if there were a setting to cause the display to fill the entire screen with that lower resolution signal, that would result in distortion and less actual workspace than you're supposed to have available.

But a USB-C connection from that system to the display should allow you to run the display at its full 3440x1440 resolution.  This might be as simple as you having to actually select that in Windows Display Settings.

@Tomelot  My first suggestion would be to provide more information about your setup so that the people here who are willing to help have something to work with.  What exact PC or other source device model have you connected to your P3421W?  What specific output on the source and input on the display are you using?  Any docks, dongles, or other types of adapters involved?  What resolution is the source actually transmitting at the moment?

The monitor is connected to a Dell Latitude 7480 laptop with a USB-C cable that was provided in the box.  No docks, dongles, or other types of adapters involved.  Sorry, I don't no how to check what resolution the source is transmitting at the moment.  I perhaps incorrectly thought this was an easy setting change that I was missing to fill the whole screen. Thanks.

Wow.  Thanks. Per your suggestion, I changed the setting to 3440x1440 resolution and now looking a full screen.  Looks great,  I appreciate the quick help.

@Tomelot  Awesome.  Not sure why it didn't default to that, but glad it was a quick and easy fix.
