PSM (Power Save Mode) Issues
* For testing purposes, the USB mouse and keyboard should be plugged into USB ports on the rear of the computer, not the monitor
* When the PC goes into Sleep Mode, do NOT turn the monitor off. Instead, just let the monitor go into its own sleep mode. Then, when you awake the PC, the monitor should wake up
* If you already allowed the PC to go into Sleep Mode and turned the monitor off and now it will not wake up
- Power off the PC
- Power off the monitor
- Disconnect the power cord from the monitor
- Disconnect all monitor cords from the PC (USB, DVI, VGA, DisplayPort, Mini DisplayPort, HDMI, etc.)
- While disconnected, press and hold the monitor power button down for 10 seconds
- Reconnect a single video cable to the monitor and to the PC video card
- Reconnect the power cord to the monitor
- Power on the monitor if it does not power on by itself
- Power on the PC
- Press the monitor Input Source Select button and choose the video port used
From a user - The graphics card locking up always occurs if while the PC is in sleep mode, I switch off the monitor using the power button. Then the subsequent wake operation fails to wake up the monitor, even if the monitor has been switched back on before I wake the PC. If I leave the monitor in low power mode (power button light on my Dell U2410 is slowly blinking), then the PC and the monitor wake up OK.
The mouse and keyboards ability to wake the system must be Enabled in the Windows Device Nanager.
Turn the PCI Express Link State Power Management to Off
* Go into the Control Panel- Power Options
* By the one selected, click Change plan settings
* Click Change advanced power settings
* Click Change settings that are currently unavailable
* Open PCI Express- Link State Power Management
* Change to Off
* Click Apply- OK
Ati Users -
* Open the Catalyst Control Center
* Click the plus by Graphics Settings- Digital Panel (DVI) 4 -Attributes -DVI Settings
* Remove the checks from these if available:
Reduce DVI Frequence on high-resolution displays
Alternate DVI operational mode
* Click Apply and OK
Use the Ati Tray Tools to setup a Hot Key to waken the monitor
* Click Edit- Hot Key Properties
* Click Miscellaneous- Reload display driver
* Press ALT + T
* Click Apply and/or OK
* Now, every time your monitor goes into PSM (power save mode), you should be able to revive it by pressing ALT + T
Nvidia Users - I still cannot find a tool similar to Ati Tray Tools for Nvidia video cards to setup a Hotkey wake up
