3008WFP, Nvidia GTX260 SLI, native resolution problem

I just purchased and received a Dell refurbished 3008WFP LCD monitor. The LCD monitor is hooked up to a pair of EVGA GTX260 graphic cards in SLI. I'm not able to run the native resolution of 2560x1600 without everything being blurry and unreadable. Are the GTX260 graphic to small for that kind of resolution?

All,

Look at the cable. If all of the pins are populated, it is a DVI-D Dual Link cable. If there are missing middle pins, it is a DVI-D Single Link cable. All 3007WFP, 3007WFP-HC, and 3008WFP displays should have the DVI-D Dual Link cable NG032.

AAdk,

Can you run that resolution if you disable SLI?

I tried disable SLI same result.

I contacted Dell technical support and after 1 hour on the phone with them all they could tell me was the refurbished monitor was working and that my non-Dell system was at fault. No help there. I then called Dell customer service and told them I wanted to return the monitor. Of course they told me that there was a 15% restocking fee for returning the monitor.

Bummed about this monitor experience I start looking for other manufacturers of 30” LCD monitors.  My luck I came across a review of a Samsung 30” LCD where the reviewer stated; make sure your cable is DVI-D-Dual Link. Bling! I went back and checked the DVI cable that came with the Dell monitor and discovered that is was only a DVI-D Single Link. I went to the local BestBuy and bought a DVI-D Dual Link cable. I’m now running the native resolution of 2560x1600.

I need to call Dell customer service back and tell them I want to keep the monitor.

I have gone back and looked at all the instruction manuals and troubleshooting material. Somewhere it would have been nice if there was some statements about the using a correct cable.

DVI-D Single link vs. DVI-Dual link

The Digital formats are available in DVI-D Single-Link and Dual-Link as well as DVI-I Single-Link and Dual-Link format connectors or cables. These DVI cables send information using a digital information format called TMDS (transition minimized differential signaling). Single link cables use one TMDS 165Mhz transmitter, while dual links use two. The dual link DVI pins effectively double the power of transmission and provide an increase of speed and signal quality; i.e. a DVI single link 60-Hz LCD can display a resolution of 1920 x 1200, while a DVI dual link can display a resolution of 2560 x 1600.

Will check with the displays team about what cable we sent out. Can you look at the cable and tell me if there is a 5 digit part number on it?

I don't see any 5 digit parts # on the cable. The only thing is a tag with a barcode and the number 6715000037P00-R

Hi Chris - I also purchased the same refurbished 30" monitor from Dell.  I was sent 2 DVI-D Single Link cables.  Did you find out if purchasers should have been sent a DVI-D Dual Link cable?  Thanks for checking.

Hi, I have the exact same problem with a 3008 wfp I just got from the outlet. After wasting three hours with tech support, and being told it was a firmware issue with the new monitors, I looked at this thread and checked my DVI-D cable. It is in fact single link, and only has the two groups of 9 pins. It's number is 0820.  Could someone from Dell get met set up with the two DVI-D Dual LInk cables I should have got?

I am having the same issue with my 3008wfp   - ID # <ADMIN NOTE:Service tag removed per privacy policy> rev. A03

EVGA nVidia GTX 260 896mb 216cores

Updated nvidia driver 8.17.12.5896 dated 7July2010

The cable is a dual link cable with all pins populated.

If the resolution is set to native 2560x1600 the screen is not usable.

Any solutions would be appreciated.
