Problems with new AW2310 3D Monitor

Hey all,

I just bought an AW2310 3D Monitor, 3D Vision 2 glasses and sync box, and an Alienware x51. I have to say, so far I am very disappointed with the monitor. There are a couple of major problems that I just can't seem to fix. First, the monitor suffers from almost instantaneous burn-in in Windows. My desktop is a mostly black background image (one of the default Alienware logos). If I leave the window where it is for about 10 seconds and then move it there is a clear burn-in of the window's former location on the background. This tends to eventually fade, but it's incredibly obvious and gave me a horrible first impression of the monitor. I've never seen burn-in that bad occurring that quickly. For a monitor this expensive it's pretty much unacceptable. Is this some sort of side-effect of using a 3D monitor? It's running at 1920x1080x60Hz right now, but it doesn't seem to matter what I set it to; the burn-in remains. I ran the LCD conditioning, but that's supposed to be for long-term burn-in. It didn't have any effect.

I could live with all of this since on a light desktop background the effect is not as obvious. However, what I can't live with is the terrible image crosstalk when using the 3D features. Even with the 3D Vision Photo Viewer slideshow that start up after setup I could see clear ghosting on all of the images presented. I was led to believe by all of my research that ghosting, while probably still present in some situations, was not really a big problem with 3D Vision 2. In practice, this doesn't seem to be the case. I ran Dungeon Siege III which fully supports 3D Vision (at an "excellent" level according to the nVidia compatibility list) and I can't use the 3D for more than a couple of seconds without my eyes crossing. Looking through each lens one at a time there are clear ghosts of the other lens's image. I've tried fiddling with both the 3D Vision depth alteration as well as Dungeon Siege III's own setting sliders and resolutions. The only way to get rid of the ghosting is to completely turn off the 3D depth altogether. Normally, I can handle 3D displays just fine, from the Nintendo 3DS to movie theater projection, but this one just isn't doing it for me.

I'm pretty much regretting my purchase right now due to these problems. If I can't get these issues fixed I'm going to need to return the monitor. If I can get any advice on what I'm doing wrong or if there's a potential problem with my hardware, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks,

I do not see that the GTX555 was shipped on the Area-51? Did you install the retail version of that video card in our Dell system? I do not see the GTX555 on the 3D Vision list?

The card came with the high-end x51. It's considered and OEM card on all of the site I've found it on, so that might be why it's not on the 3D Vision list. However, the specs on the GeForce page confirm that it's 3D Vision-capable

None of this really matters anymore, though, since I called Tech Support and their recommendation was to replace the monitor. Unfortunately, they have none in stock and don't know if or when they will be getting any more of them. The only option is to return the monitor for a refund.
