Questions about 2407 and DVI-D input

So like everyone else on this board I for the most part am satisfied with the monitor, but when it came to the component inputs and console gaming I was more that just upset (Is there anyone that was satisfied with it?) I'm considering returning this monitor to Dell.

I ran my X-Box 360 to my monitor using a VGA cable and I was very pleased with the results. Part of the reason I bought this monitor was because I love Gran Turismo 4 and wanted to see it run at 1080i. Its horrible to look at through the component inputs. Luckily I own a VD-Z3 which is a transcoder that will run component cables to VGA. Using this device I've had great results on my CRT monitor. On the 2407 standard X-box games look great running at 480p and 720p. The problem that I had with the CRT monitor and my 2407 is running PS2 games that run a 480i signal, which accounts for almost all of them. As most of you know most monitors cannot run a 480i. So while I can run a 480i signal when using the component inputs, it won't allow me to do this through the VGA port.

So, I have questions about the DVI input because I haven't read of many complaints. If I do choose to keep this monitor I plan to get a Component to DVI-D converter. My question is mainly regarding the quality of the port compared to that of the component port. And also if you knew wether there were issues with running 480i through DVI? Would I be able to purchase this converter in confidence and not worry about my PS2 not working because of some display issues? Thanks for reading.

Not too sure if this answers your question but from reading this (word find 480i) I would think it did support 480i over DVI.
