Resolution

What is the recommended resolution setting for an e173fp monitor. I have a Dell dimension with the e173fp.
I can only get a full screen using 800x600 res. Any other setting and the page appears in a small box on the display, not covering the entire screen. Dell Tech had me download updated drivers and after different check they finally said it had to be a software problem.

I thought I already replied to this but I'll try again.

If you are speaking of certain web pages or programs not "filling the screen" unless you set the resolution to 800x600 this is normal.

Many web pages (like this forum) are designed to only be 800 pixels wide. This is so people with low res. screens don't have to scroll horizontally too much. Also, it gets hard to read text in a small font 1280 pixels or more wide anyway. You can however make THIS FORUM expand to fill your whole browser window, if you like, buy going to your display settings in "preferences".

Older software sometimes is locked into the lower res. too. It helps the designers keep things formated in a way that is pleasing to them, and functional, and easy to code.

You can select a smaller resolution but make sure it is at least the same aspect ratio as the "native" resolution, and understand the LCD image will be less sharp.
