S2209W supported resolutions?
Today, I received my new Dell S2209W monitor. I purchased this monitor because of it's "Full HD" support and low price. However, I'm very disapointed so far. Through an HDMI to DVI cable, I connected the various HD devices at my disposal to the S2209W:
- Sony PlayStation 3: The monitor won't work at 1080p. The highest resolution it will support is 1080i. At 1080p, it just displays "snow".
- Sony HDR-SR1 camcorder: This camcorder outputs at 1440x1080. However, the monitor simply displays a message stating that the input timing is not supported.
- Pace 551 HD TV receiver: The receiver supports 1080i and 720p. However, wether I set the receiver to output at 1080i or 720p, the S2209W always displays at 480p. When I connect the receiver to my TV, the TV shows the right resolution.
The manual claims the following resolutions are supported: 480i/480p/576i/576p/720p/1080i/1080p. Therefore, I should at least be able to get the PS3 to work at 1080p. As anyone else tried connecting a PS3 to their S2209W? Any luck getting it to run at 1080p?

I am getting a "timing" issue when pushing a VUDU (1080p/24) into this panel. I suspect that the problem I am having may be caused by a limitation of the panel i.e. 30 Hz minimum refresh rate vs. the 24 of my source. Maybe that is causing some of your problems. I do not know if ther eis a work around - maybe i just need to change the output up from 24.

The monitor supports 1920x1080. It does not support 1440x1080.
Pace 551 HD TV receiver: The receiver supports 1080i and 720p. However, whether I set the receiver to output at 1080i or 720p, the S2209W always displays at 480p. When I connect the receiver to my TV, the TV shows the right resolution.
What output connector is from your Pace 551? Is it the HDMI to DVI or something else? What Input Select of the display are you using, DVI?

1440x1080 is considered a 1080i resolution, which the S2209W manual claim is supported. All other display devices I've connected the camcorder to have been able to scale the image properly, but not the S2209W. This is not a major issue, but is disappointing none the less.

As stated in my initial post, connection was made with an HDMI to DVI cable. Therefore, the HDMI output of the Pace 551 was connected to the DVI input of the S2209W.
What about the PlayStation 3? Do you have a solution to propose?
Thank you,
