S2340L fizzy image

I just brought a S2340L monitor, but it has fizzy or wavelike image sometimes on and off. It make the words uncomfortable to read. There is no service tag detected by the dell detect software. I have try the self test system in the monitor by pressing 1 and 4 button at the same time but I cannot see any problems during the tests. Anyone has this issue, pls assist.

Only the 27" and larger monitors receive a service tag number. All smaller monitors use the Dell Order number and your Dell Customer number. Since the issue is not shown during the BID, then the culprit is either the computer video card, video card driver, operating system setting, or possibly the cabling. Test the monitor on a different computer.

I only test VGA. HDMI does not give me the resolution that I want.

On both computers, test both VGA and HDMI into the monitor VGA and HDMI.

Irrelevant, we need to know if you see the issue when testing HDMI. Test a different VGA cable. Also reset the monitor to factory. User's Guide, page 30:

I have already tested the monitor on another computer but the result is the same. Same wave like image when I alt tab between programs. does the monitor need some time to refresh itself, as a result I will see the wave like image on and off?

HDMI seem fine but how to expand the screen to the max? There is big black border between the windows and the border of the monitor.

There is a setting in your video card (GPU) advanced menu for Scaling Options/Overscan. What GPU is installed on the laptops?

* Right click on the windows desktop
* Left click Catalyst Control Center
* Open My Digital Flat-Panels
* Select Scaling Options (Digital Flat-Panel) from the sub menu
* Move the bar right to Overscan 0%
* Click Apply
