S2417DG, BurnIn mode, random colors
Hi,
I own a 5 months old Dell S2417DG monitor. Today I turned on my computer and during post/boot, the monitor just cycles through random colors as seen in a video I made here:
www.youtube.com/watch
The colors also show when my pc is completely off power. When my computer enters Windows though, the random colors disappear but I noticed the monitor is unable to run on 165HZ anymore. I can select the setting in the monitor's OSD, but it won't save. The max. I can get is 144HZ.
Now I've come across a similiar thread where someone reports the same issue: en.community.dell.com/.../19676955 and apparently my monitor entered the Factory Menu, but I have no idea why since all I did was turn on my computer and monitor. The second button from the right is also a Factory OSD now: http://imgur.com/Wi7BUrd
Can I safely turn off the 'Factory Menu' and 'Burn In Pattern' by just unticking those options from the menu shown in the screenshot? Or do I need to RMA the monitor? Also, is the monitor able to run on 165HZ again once that Factory Mode is turned off?

The full screen red, green, blue, etc.means that the monitor BurnIn mode has been turned on in the internal FSM (Factory Service Menu). This can be the result an abnormal power outage which has damaged the monitor BIOS. Other times users had entered the FSM and enabled it.
The monitor internal FSM is only used by our monitor manufacturer service center. Dell Technical Support cannot assist you with the FSM. If you break the monitor by making a change in the FSM, the purchased warranty is voided.
For out of warranty users, enter the FSM, remove the check from BurnIn mode. Then exit the FSM. Note, a full power off/on may turn BurnIn mode back on. So you will have to repeat the process.

It is very odd that the Factory Menu turned itself on. Don't make any changes until I hear from the team and come back to you.

Mmm weird, I didn't do anything to make this happen as far as I know. The last thing I did was some internet browsing and playing some Overwatch games. About 8-10 hours later I turned on my PC and monitor and this occured.

Tried it, no difference. I got my replacement from Dell today and the problem is solved. Btw, I found another person on Youtube with the exact same problem.
