S2722DC, two, Latitude 7490, both using USB-C?
Hi!
Last week I bought and installed my two new S2722DC monitors. I’m really happy with the performance and looks of the two monitors. I am using a Lattitude 7490 to connect the monitors. The first monitor is connected via the thunderbolt (USB-c) connection, the second monitor is connected via an HDMI connection. In essence, this setup works fine but I'd like to connect the second monitor via USB-c as well so I can use the powered USB ports on the second monitor.
As daisy chaining is not possible for these monitors (correct me if I’m wrong), I want to connect both monitors via the USB 3.2 (Gen1, 5Gb/s) type-c ports. Of course, the Latitude has only one thunderbolt port and it seems like I can not find a docking station or a cable splitter suitable for my situation.
Do you know a suitable solution for me to use both monitors via the USB-c connection? And does Dell sell such a docking station or cable splitter? I can't seem to find it.
Thanks in advance!

@Dranrew There’s no splitter that would allow you to keep power from one display, a USB data path to both displays, and independent video streams running to each display. But even though your displays don’t have the ports to daisy chain video, you can still daisy chain USB data just like you can with regular USB hubs. Get a USB-C to USB-A cable that’s rated for USB 3.x Gen 1 (some only support USB 2.0) and connect the USB-C side to that second display and the USB-A side to a USB port on your display.

@jphughan Thank you very much for the detailed reply. Good to know that I can daisy chain the USB data! I wasn't aware of that. As for the WD19TBS dock, you are right, it's a bit inefficient in my situation with two USB-C displays just to eliminate one HDMI cable.
I will get a USB-C to USB-A cable!

@Dranrew I forgot to add that since you asked about a docking station, if you want to run two of those displays from that system, you’d need a Thunderbolt dock like the WD19TBS. But given that you already spent money on USB-C displays, that would be a pretty expensive option just to eliminate having to connect that HDMI cable to the second display and instead run everything over a single cable to the dock, with video and USB cables from each display connected to that dock.
