SP2309W monitor blanks out with DVI-D cable (using ATI X1300 graphics card)

Hi,

I have bought the SP2309W monitor and am using it with a Win XP machine having an ATI Radeon X1300 graphics card (256MB)  which supports a max resolution of 2048 x 1536 according to it's specs.

The monitor works fine with the VGA connector at all the resolutions upto the max resolution of 2048 x 1152. But when I connect it using the DVI-D cable supplied along, it starts blinking, i.e. goes blank for a couple of seconds and then comes up again for a second and goes blank again and this pattern keeps repeating. However it works fine if I bring down the resolution to 1280 x 1024.

Any ideas what might be wrong? Is the DVI-D cable faulty or something.

Could someone help please.

Thanks

Arvinder

Look at this picture and then at the connector on your video card. Which one is it? Now look at the cable we sent, Which one is it?

Hi Chris...the connector on my video card and the cable both resemble the image marked as DVI-D (Dual Link).

It could be the DVI cable. Do you have another one to test on?

I am taking a brand new DVI-D cable from my office to try out and will post the results tonight.

Hi Chris,

My description of the connections was not correct earlier. I have just now checked the connections after coming home and here they are as shown in the images in your link...

Monitor - DVI-D (dual link)

Cable - DVI-D (single link)

Graphics Card connector - DVI-I (Dual link)

Now could you suggest what I need to do? Is it the cable which needs to be replaced or some adapter which can connect to the cable and then to the graphics card.

Thanks

Arvinder
