STRANGE problem with 2007FP

I've got a problem with my recently bought (read bought for Christmas) Dell 2007FP.

It worked fine so far and I liked it very much until I discovered today a problem that I know was not there yesterday. Now it displays a bright yellow area, a small rectangle just where the Windows Flag or Apples hmm.. apple is. It is about the size of the Windows flag, to get you an idea.

The interesting particularity about it is the fact it depends on the VIEWING ANGLE. For example, if I stand up and look down on the monitor, it doesn't show at all!

But if I sit down, bang, there it is.

If I look at it from the bottom to the top, the rectangle increases in height, becomes a lot bigger but of course loses some color, becomes faded a bit.

I'm quite puzzled as to what generated this behaviour, please if you have any suggestions, it would be very appreciated.

I don't think it's image burn, it can't be, since I didn't have any yellow picture displayed there, most of the time there's a white region there and also I take very good care of the monitor, have the screensaver set to 5 min of inactivity and turnoff point to 10 min.

I tried adjusting the contrast&brightness and I'm happy to report that the area changes with the rest of the picture. Meaning it does not show when the contrast is set to 0 (the display is completely black) and when it's set to 100, it is somewhat brighter.

I can't pinpoint the exact moment when it happened, I noticed it when I booted up, I didn't notice it before, maybe it was there, but I doubt it.

The color is yellow on a white background, if the monitor displays other colors in that spot it alters the colors shown, meaning that blue is made green and so on. Black remains black so it's invisible on a black image.

It displays everywhere, even in bios, and it's only visible in certain viewing angles.
It does not show when looking at it from a very high viewing point.

Send it back!  But first try the Dead Pixel Test.  It may show up better with this.

I ran it for my 2007WFP which is version A0 (: and it looks fine....so far.

Here is a picture with the problem.

I'm still no closer to discovering what it is, what caused it and what can be done.
It puzzels me a lot. I haven't heard anyone having this sort of problem so I'm in a tough spot.

Had no luck with Dell, it seems they are less eager to service a device sold in what they consider to be a third-world country that in US or UK, even if I paid more for their product that an US citizen for example.
And I'm not willing to part with the device and hope for the best, that's a no-no, I need it too much.

As you can see, it's quite a brilliant yellow, has a rather defined area, appeared out of the blue.
Also my first impression that it shows only in certain angles is wrong. It shows up in all angles, more or less.

Please help.

Signed,
A Desperate Man

InnovaD,

Dell Support in your country should replace it. Find the closest contact on this list. They will need your order number.
