Samsung Monitor W/ New Dell
Dell is including a free 22'' or 20'' monitor with some new systems. It is only Samsung and there is no other choice. The 22'' is 2220 wm and the 20'' is 204 bw . Are they good monitors? Couldn`t find any info on the 22'' at all. I`ve seen the 20'' in some stores.

The Samsung 2220WM 22” LCD Monitor compares to our e228WFP. The only difference as far as specifications is it has a 1000:1 contrast ration and the e228WFP has a 800:1.
The Samsung 204BW has similar specifications to our e207WFP.

Have similar spec questions on the Samsung 2220WM and just wondering if anyone has a clue. I'm no expert by any means (which is why I'm asking here). I've read elsewhere on the advantage of 8 bit over 6 bit LCD panels, but manufacturers don't appear to be very forthcoming with that kind of info. all the time.
.pdf sheets from Samsung indicate the following:
204BW/205BW(20 inch) 16.7 M colors (8 bit), 0.258 mm (H)x(V) dot pitch
225BW(22 inch) 16.7 M colors (8 bit), 0.282 mm (H)x(V) dot pitch
206BW(20 inch) (data conspicuously missing)
226BW(22 inch) (data conspicuously missing)
2220WM(22 inch) 16.7 M colors (no bit designation), 0.282 mm (H)x(V) dot pitch
920WM (19 inch) 16.7 M colors (no bit designation), 0.282 mm (H)x(V) dot pitch
Another specification which I'm not sure I understand is a reference to:
...* For example, the number of TFT LCD sub pixels that is contained in this product are 5,292,000....
For the same monitors above, the numbers stated are:
204BW/205BW(20.1 inch) 5,292,000
225BW(22 inch) 5,292,000
206BW(20 inch) (data conspicuously missing)
226BW (22 inch) (data conspicuously missing)
2220WM(22 inch) 3,888,000
920WM(19 inch) 3,888,000
Despite the 20 inch vs. 22 inch desigations, all of these panels deliver the same 1680 x 1050@60Hz resolution. I'm assuming all of these are TN (twisted neumatic) panels (but the specs don't say). The bit designation, dot pitch and TFT LCD sub pixel values for the 204BW/205BW(20.1 inch) appear to be a standout, while the 2220WM appears somewhere on the other (lower) end.
I guess my question is, is the 2220WM an 8 bit panel? Also curious about what those TFT LCD sub pixel numbers mean. Just as reference, I got my Dad the 204BW in one of the Dell/AMD package deals a few months ago, but haven't really spent any quality time with it. Still not a match for a good CRT (but getting close). Just concerned that the 2220WM might be a major step down from the 204BW.
Anyway...if anyone has any info., thanks...
